Aims
of the roundtable
On 4th June,
the ODI hosted a Roundtable discussion on 'Re-thinking aid policy
in response to Zimbabwe's protracted crisis'.
The aim was
to bring together people with a knowledge of human rights, humanitarian
responses, the political economy of fragile states, vulnerability,
poverty and livelihoods to discuss the deepening crisis in Zimbabwe,
current aid modalities and programmatic design. A small, invited
audience was drawn from a broad variety of backgrounds, including
academia, civil society and the international community, to enable
active participation in a structured discussion. The latter part
of the day concentrated on the identification of options for alternative
aid modalities and approaches to implementation.
Although the
event focused on Zimbabwe, the discussion aimed to generate conclusions
of wider relevance.
