Voter Registration
is currently going on at the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission Stand
at ZITF, Hall 2. The requirements for voting are National Identity
Document and Proof of Residence. According to a press statement
issued by ZEC, Zimbabweans are encouraged to register at the various
designated registration centres throughout the country. One can
register as a voter at the Registrar General’s Offices, National
District Registration Centres and Sub Offices from 7:45 hours to
16:45 hours during working hours or at the Registration Centres
set up in your area. Proof of Residence could include: In the case
of rural areas, a letter of confirmation from the chief, headman
or village head, farm owner or mine owner. In urban areas, utility
bills in the applicant’s name credit statements in the applicant’s
name, letter from the landlord’s or parent’s confirming
that applicant resides with them, lodger’s permit, title deeds,
certificate of occupation, letter with pot markings reflecting applicant’s
address. A driver’s license is not acceptable for registration
purposes.
