Results for the Referendum held on the 16th of March have been released. Announcing the results at Harare today ZEC election officer Lovemore Sekeramayi said “3,079,966 Zimbabweans voted YES, 179,489 voted no and 56,627 were spoilt ballots.”

Copac Co Chair Hon. Munyaradzi Paul Mangwana congratulated Zimbabweans for voting for the Draft Constitution adding that this has been the highest voter turnout in the electoral history of Zimbabwe.

WILD has been holding meetings on Constitutional Awareness to its women constituency under the theme “Constitutionalism: A Pathway for Women’s Democratic Participation” and celebrates this resounding victory for a NEW CONSTITUTION. Flawed as it may be, it is the best document for women of Zimbabwe so far.
