Celebrating
Women's month
The month of March has
been dedicated world over to celebrating women, their past and present
achievements as well as their future aspirations. This month, ZWLA
has been to numerous communities in Zimbabwe to celebrate women,
in line with this year's International Women's Day theme.
In Harare, ZWLA participated
in the celebrations hosted by Women's Coalition of Zimbabwe on the
8th of March where we successfully showcased the work that we do,
as well as motivated school girls who were at the occasion to be
masters of their own destiny.
As highlighted in the
last issue, we went to Mutoko on the 9th of March and a had a wonderful
time with the community there, as we celebrated through song, dance,
poetry and drama. ZWLA holds mobile legal aid clinics in Mutoko
and this has resulted in good relations with members of the community.
ZWLA
in Mubaira
ZWLA in partnership with
Tsungirirayi Center held a community education campaign in Mubaira
where we went beyond commemorating IWD but also had community dialogues
on issues that affect women the most such as domestic violence,
inheritance, marriage laws and HIV and AIDS.
ZWLA
in schools
ZWLA was also invited
to different schools were school girls ere sensitised on their rights
and various career opportunities in the legal fraternity.
