Last week at a Glance - Issue 52
Women's Coalition
February 03, 2011

My Thoughts

Welcome to this week's edition of our weekly bulletin. This past week has gone by so fast for the WCoZ Secretariat, having spent Wednesday to Saturday in Kariba for a staff retreat & team-building exercise. Not only did staff work hard on improving our effectiveness, but the WcoZ staff also had an opportunity to witness the opening of the Kariba Floodgates!

Constitutional Update

WCoZ and some of its members have been engaged in a number of lobby and advocacy activities with political decision makers around inclusion of women in thematic committees and drafting teams.

WCoZ met COPAC Co-Chairpersons, the women in the Select Committee and the representatives from the women's wings the 3 main political parties, ZANU PF, MDC and MDC-T.

It was agreed at all the meetings that there is a need to have equal representation of women and men in all constitutional processes.

Organizations which took part in these processes were WiPSU, ZWLA, Young Women's African Leaders Movement, WiLSA and the WCoZ board.

Canadian Interns join WCoZ!

Three Canadians will be volunteering with Women's Coalition Secretariat & member organizations for the next six months. Marjorie Saulnier will do legal research & assist in the creation of a court watch system; Mola Shahsavari will work in the field of resource mobilization, cataloguing existing resources & training staff in resource acquisition; and Amber Minnings will assist in implementing the WCoZ communication strategy for the member organizations and train member organizations to improve their communication capabilities. A warm welcome to our new interns!

Monitoring and Evaluation Training

Do you care about how well you are doing, where your resources are going or about what impact you are having? If yes, then you need monitoring and evaluation skills.

Are you struggling with?

  • Developing a monitoring and evaluation plan.
  • Developing indicators.
