WCoZ wins the Betty Plewes Award

WCoZ is proud to inform its membership, stakeholders and funding partners that it won this year's Betty Plewes Award after being short listed with organizations from Mali and Zambia. The Fund was created by the Canadian Crossroads Iinternational (CCI) Board of Directors to honour the contribution made by Betty Plewes while President - CEO of CCI. The purpose of the Fund is to award an African non-governmental organization engaged in research and policy development on issues of priority to women. WCoZ received the award for its role and contributions to the passing of the Domestic Violence Act. The award recognizes our combined efforts as a network in lobbying, advocating and raising awareness of the Domestic Violence Act.

25 WCoZ members train in Basic ICT and Social Media Twenty five members of the WCoZ were recently trained in Basic ICT and Social Media. The 2 day training was facilitated by EKOWISA a member of WCoZ and provided the participants drawn from both the organization and individual membership with following experiences;

  • Identification of gaps in ICT (information, communication and technology)
  • Understanding and using electronic networking tools such as the use of skype · Contextual background to social media tools such as blogs, wikis, and face book
  • A 'space' where non-profit practitioners could experiment and came to grips with the tools in practical session.

At the end of the 2 day training the participants understood the purpose and importance of using ICT in programming activities.
