Child Network celebrates 10th anniversary

Child Network
March 21, 2009
Girl Child Network (GCN)
turns 10 years on 21 March 2009, and in this regard, girls, GCN
staff, stakeholders and friends in Zimbabwe are all looking back
and reflecting on this noble path travelled. All of us are busy
preparing for the official commemoration of GCN's 10th Anniversary
scheduled for 28 March 2009. A summarised informative document regarding
GCN's work and the commemoration will be issued soon by GCN's
Communications and Development Office, which will also include the
program of the day.
As we joyfully celebrate
this, we all reflect and cherish the great and amazing work for
tens of thousands of girls in Zimbabwe by GCN as a community based,
developmental non-governmental organisation registered in Zimbabwe,
and the visionary and passionate work of Betty Hazviperi Makoni,
the Founding Executive Director for GCN, who has also emotionally
and successfully fought for and defended girls and women's
rights over the past decade.
Accordingly and befittingly,
girls, all children, women, GCN funding partners, stakeholders and
friends the world over, are sincerely invited and called upon to
join in these all-important celebrations which significantly mark
a decade of girls' emancipation in Zimbabwe. For GCN, the
decade's motto has been, 'For the Girl Child, the Sky
is the limit!' Indeed, the sky has been the only limit as
thousands of girls have been empowered by GCN's strategic
empowerment programs and now walk in the fullness of their potential
as future women achievers and leaders.
