WOZA women keep in motion
Women of Zimbabwe Arise (WOZA)
August 01, 2005

OVER 300 Women of Zimbabwe Arise (WOZA) and over 20 male members marched from the TM Hypermarket in 11th Avenue Bulawayo to Mhlahlandlela Government Complex to hand over a letter to the Provincial Governor Cain Mathema for President Robert Mugabe. The letter calls for the repealing of unjust laws and implementation of the UN Special Envoys recommendations. Riot Police attended the scene after the women had disbursed but failed to arrest any of the peaceful protestors.

The march was conducted in silence to demonstrate that the Public Order and Security Act POSA and Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act

(AIPPA) have silenced the nation. The peaceful women also wore black armbands in solidarity with the Liberation War Heroes who sacrificed to bring Independence but must be turning in their graves as Zimbabweans are not free. Operation Murambatsvina has awakened them from their rest. The arm band is a way of respecting their sacrifices but signalling them that some Zimbabweans are still fighting for freedom.

The latest edition of WOZA MOYA (Come healing Wind) was distributed to passers-by who issued complements and one giant of a man jumped for joy and grabbed several copies of the leaflet.

Letters were delivered to the Provincial Governor, High Court and Tredgold Provincial Courts and Provincial Zimbabwe Republic Police Offices. Professor Jonathan Moyo also obtained a copy of the newsletter inviting him to the protest but he was not present.
