Bulawayo police disrupt GALZ meeting

Three police details from ZRP Central, Bulawayo disrupted a GALZ Human rights defenders workshop held at the GALZ offices in Bulawayo on 17 December 2011.

Police attempted to end the workshop citing the Public Order and security Act (POSA) they accused GALZ officials present of their "Failure to notify" the police of the meeting and were moving in to disperse the gathering. The Police details left the premises after a close to two-hour discussion with GALZ staff and the later intervention of Kossam Ncube of the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR).

The workshop continued during the negotiations and ended without incident.
