The first Zimbabwe
Traditional and Organic Food Festival is going ahead as planned!
It will happen on Saturday 7 December at the Botanic Gardens from
9am to 4pm.
There will be
about 40 stalls with a variety of foods on display, with some for
tasting and some for sale. Some exhibitors will also bring seeds
and seedlings for the foods on display. A chance to stock up on
a range of healthy foods... in time for the festive season!
There will be
cooking demos throughout the day and talks related to food. Bring
your kids too, as there will be a full programme of activities for
them. And there will be a variety of entertainment too. All 4 programmes
are enclosed.
There will be
lunches and snacks (Zimbabwean and other African) for sale, as well
as herbal cool drinks, teas, fresh juices and mahewu. All under
the theme of traditional and organic food. Come and join us in celebrating
healthy, wholesome, diverse food. Have a look through the enclosed
information and be tempted, in more ways than one.
For those coming
in your own transport, there's parking along Sandringham Drive -
parking within the Botanic Garden premises is possible but it's
a small area and will cost USD $3/car. For those coming with public
transport we will be speaking to combi drivers who go from Rezende
Street to Mount Pleasant and asking them to go via the Botanic Gardens,
so let them know you want to go to the Botanic Gardens. Failing
that, you can get off at the junction of Sam Nujoma Ave (former
Second Street Extension) and Downie Ave and it's a 10 minute walk
to the Botanic Garden entrance.
There will be
a USD1 entrance fee for adults (above the age of 12) and 0.50 for
children (2-12). This is being charged by the Botanic Gardens.
And please let
as many people know about this event as you can.
Together we
can stem the tide towards bad eating and return to what's sensible,
and tasty; and support those farmers who are producing healthy food
in a sustainable way.
See you there
and with warm and nutritious wishes from the organising committee.
