OSISA is looking to contract module writers for its Marginalisation and Inequalities Course as per the attached Terms of Reference for the following modules under the broader areas:

Conceptual issues of social exclusion, marginalisation and inequalities

  • Conceptual, Theoretical and Policy Frameworks
  • Linking Marginalisation and Inequalities in Southern Africa
  • Estimation Techniques: Inequalities, Marginalisation and Inclusivity

Domains of social exclusion, marginalisation and inequalities

  • Ethnicity, Race, Class and Nationality
  • Identity and Gender
  • The Marginalisation of Women in the 21st Century

Combating social exclusion, marginalisation and inequalities

  • The Use of Legal Instruments and Policies as Tools to Combat Marginalisation, Social Exclusion and Inequalities
  • Countering Exclusion in an Era of Human Mobility

Advocacy Isuses

  • Social Policy and the Construction of Social Cohesion
  • Working with Legislative and Law Enforcement Authorities
  • Challenging Attitudes, Behaviours, Social and Economic Structures to go beyond Laws and Policies

Qualifications Required

  • A minimum of a Master’s degree in Sociology, Development Studies, Gender Studies, Law, Economics, Migration Studies. (PhD preferred)
  • A sound understanding of the subject matter;
  • Proven track record of having previously developed modules;
  • Preference will be given to applicants teaching the subject matter.
