Course
Overview
The Youth Empowerment
and Transformation Trust (YETT), in partnership with the Open Society
Initiative of Southern Africa (OSISA) invite applications to the
first ever national level Young Women’s Leadership (Feminism)
Training Course. The 10 days long course will be held from the 18th
- 28th of August 2013 in Harare, Zimbabwe.
The course aims to strengthen the capacity of young women to challenge
patriarchy, promote gender equality and enable them to play a more
active role in the feminist movement. Participants are introduced
to key theories and frameworks of feminism and critically engage
in examining their relevance and applicability to their personal
and professional lives. By the end of course, participants will
be equipped with skills to analyse issues in women’s lives
and strategically work to address them. Modules covered in the course
include the following: feminist theory and conceptual frameworks,
body politics (sex and sexuality), feminist research, knowledge
management, leadership, movement building and self-mastery which
will be facilitated by feminist scholars and activists. This is
a good forum for young women to network with peers from across the
country and it also offers a safe environment for sharing of and
reflecting on life experiences.
