Committee of Privilege (An ad hoc commitee) was announced by the Speaker before Parliament adjourned. Its purpose is to enquire into the contempt of Parliament allegedly committed by the Minister of Industry and International Trade when giving evidence to the Portfolio Committee on Foreign Affairs, Industry and International Trade regarding reports of corruption at ZISCO. The Speaker had earlier ruled that there was a prima facie case of contempt against the Minister in the sense of prevarication as a witness or of presenting false, untrue, fabricated or falsified evidence to the Portfolio Committee.
