Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace in Zimbabwe (CCJP)
    March 01, 2011

The Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace in Zimbabwe (CCJPZ) joins other progressive voices in calling for the freeing of Munyaradzi Gwisai , the Coordinator of the International Socialist Organisation and the other 45. The group was exercising its right to freedom of assembly and association as enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic of Zimbabwe.

The issues they were allegedly discussing are maters already in the public domain. There was nothing new as the events in North Africa are being watched on various media channels locally.

Zimbabwe is a signatory to regional, continental and international conventions on civil and political rights. We call upon the authorities to protect, fulfill and respect the rights of citizens being charged flimsy thereby violating their civil and political rights.
