Valentine's Day
Women
Together in Prayer for Zimbabwe
February 15, 2006
This is what the
Lord says; "A cry of anguish is heard in Ramah, mourning and weeping
unrestrained . . . . . . ." Rachael weeps for her children . . . . . . .but
now the Lord says "do not weep any longer for . . . ..there is
hope for your future." Jeremiah 31: 15-16
W.T.P.Z is very disturbed at
the harassment of our sisters in WOZA during their recent legitimate and
peaceful protest against the hardships that all Zimbabweans are experiencing.
As women leaders in the church,
we feel we have an obligation to stand with the legitimate demands of
WOZA. We have committed ourselves to praying for the people of Zimbabwe
to be delivered from the senselessness that has characterised governance
in our country.
We reiterate that women and
children are the ones that are suffering from the stubborn behaviour of
our politicians. We join our sisters in WOZA in calling on the Zimbabwean
government to create an environment that will respect and respond to the
genuine call by all of us to restore human dignity and to end all threats
to sources of livelihoods and human security.
We will continue to pray and mention by name all politicians that are
standing in the way of justice, freedom and peace.
We call on all women in Zimbabwe
not to lose hope.
