Police refusal to sing national anthem childish
Movement for Democratic Change
November 13, 2012

The refusal to sing the national anthem by some clearly ill trained police officers ostensibly from Zanu PF's Boarder Gezi training camps at the launch of the government's MTP programme at the Rainbow Towers yesterday was a very ill-advised act calculated to embarrass the head of government the Right Honourable Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai who was officiating at this very important national event.

That the myopic officers refused to perform the national anthem at a state function at the instigation of some overzealous Zanu PF zealot member of the infamous and largely discredited Central Intelligent Organisation, shows that these ill-advised Zanu police officers are under a misguided notion that the National anthem is a private commodity or a special preserve for Zanu PF related activities.

It is pathetic how low some members of the security forces can sink to please some senior gangster leaders masquerading as service chiefs. It was hooliganism at its best and reflects badly on the police force.

However, the MDC president was unfazed by this act of barbarism and advised the responsible authorities to send the officers for further training especially on how to conduct themselves at state functions since these officers cannot distinguish between government and party functions.
