MDC applauds Min Biti for awarding civil servants bonuses
Movement for Democratic Change
October 26, 2012

The MDC applauds the move by the Minister of Finance and MDC Secretary General, Hon. Tendai Biti to award civil servants their bonuses despite challenges posed by limited revenue inflows.

The minister's gesture will certainly go a long way in cushioning civil servants from the vagaries of a very turbulent economic situation.

We take cognisance of the minister's ingenuity in introducing austerity measures which have seen him cut recurrent expenditures from ministries in a bid to survive critical challenges of limited revenue base.

This development is in line with the MDC economic policy which seeks to improve standard of living of all Zimbabweans.

President Tsvangirai is on record, calling for improved salaries for workers and has vowed to continue pressing for better wages for all workers.

Once again the MDC condemns the continued looting of the country's resources especially the non-remittance of diamonds from Chiadzwa diamonds to the Treasury.

Proceeds from the resources will go a long way in improving the salaries of the government employees.
