  • 2nd All Stakeholders' Conference proceeding as planned
    Movement for Democratic Change
    October 21, 2012

Hon Douglas Mwonzora was today at the High Court where an appeal by Danny Musukuma, a Zanu PF activist to stop the hosting the 2nd All Stakeholders' Conference was once again quashed.

High Court Judge, Justice Zimba Dube dismissed the application saying it was meant to harass Copac leadership and derail the process.

On Friday, an application by Musukuma seeking to bar the conference from proceeding was thrown away. Musukuma had earlier last week filed an urgent court application seeking Copac to publish a National Statistical Report on the draft Constitution for people to study it before the start of the conference.

However, in its response, Copac put it through to the presiding judge, Justice Ben Hlatshwayo that the report was available on the Copac website for anyone to have access to. When this emerged the two parties agreed to register a mutual consent allowing Copac to avail the national report on the website and to print hard copies of the report for distribution to all the Copac provincial administrators.

The MDC remains focused on the 2nd All Stakeholders' Conference and the need to deliver the new Constitution to the people of Zimbabwe.
