MDC pays tribute to Ennah Chitsa
Movement for Democratic Change (MDC)
March 02, 2012

The MDC has learnt with shock and sadness of the passing on of Senator Ennah Chitsa, the National Women's Assembly vice chairperson. Senator Chitsa (66) died at her Luveve home in the early hours of today.

Senator Chitsa joined the struggle for real change at MDC's inception in 1999. The women had so much confidence in her to lead the struggle from the front that they elected her to the post of vice chairperson of the Women's Assembly in 2006. She was re-elected to the same post in 2011.

Born on 14 April 1946, Senator Chitsa was an instrumental member of the party whose resolve was to see a better Zimbabwe. She is best remembered for standing up for what she believed in and pursuing the dream of a new Zimbabwe and a new beginning.

The veteran politician, who had high blood pressure and was also diabetic, was a mother, teacher and an educator. She has left a gap that cannot be filled. Senator Chitsa is survived by three children, Patience, Victoria and Nicodemus. Mourners are gathered at House Number 3161 Luveve Township in Bulawayo.

The death of Senator Chitsa comes at a time when the MDC is in the last lap towards the full democratization of our country. The MDC is saddened that it continues to lose dedicated and committed leaders who were steering the freedom ship towards the promised land which is so near. The death of Senator Chitsa and many other dedicated cadres, will only be meaningful with the realization of a fully democratic Zimbabwe where all people have dignity, security, freedom, prosperity and hope.
