MDC officials remanded in custody as state opposes bail

The 14 MDC officials who were arrested on Saturday in Beitbridge,
Matebeleland South after the State invoked the notorious Section
121 of the Criminal
Procedure and Evidence Act and barred them from getting bail.
They were arrested in
Beitbridge Town where they holding an MDC training programme for
the district leadership.
Meanwhile, six other
MDC officials who were arrested on Saturday in Gwanda, Matebeleland
South holding a similar workshop were today released from police
custody after the police said they had no charges to answer.
