  • Madzore denied bail at the High Court
    Movement for Democratic Change (MDC)
    December 05, 2011

Solomon Madzore, the MDC Youth Assembly chairperson was denied bail at the High Court today by Justice Maria Zimba Dube.

This was his second bail application after being denied bail in October at the High Court as he was considered a flight risk. The new bail application had been filed due to various changed circumstances that arose since his arrest in October.

Madzore is facing trumped-up charges of murdering a police officer in Glen View in May. 27 other MDC activists are facing similar charges. Eight of them including Madzore are still in remand prison while the others have been granted bail.

Meanwhile, the 28 activists today appeared at the Harare Magistrates' Court for routine remand and were remanded to 09 January, 2012.
