Solidarity with the Youth Assembly chairperson from the Women's
Assembly
Movement
for Democratic Change (MDC)
October 17, 2011
The MDC Assembly of Women is concerned over the unwarranted continuous
incarceration of Solomon Madzore, the Youth Assembly Chairperson.
The predictable postponement of the High Court bail applications
by the State prosecutor is unsound and unjustified. The women of
Zimbabwe will not watch our justice delivery system interfering
with and crumbling youth participation in democracy initiatives
to bring about a new Zimbabwe with jobs, food and education. When
our children get persecuted for being responsible citizens we wonder
what kind of future this country is destined for.
It makes nonsense investing
energies, resources and time, silencing and challenging tomorrow's
young leaders of Zimbabwe with dubious accusations. The postponement
of bail hearings given by the High court on the basis that Prosecutor
Edmore Nyazamba is not ready with submissions, and the investigating
officer has not yet completed his investigations, means that police
arrest in order to investigate. This clearly shows that Solomon
Madzore is a victim of flawed policing. Any docket that comes up
on Monday will be viewed with contempt and suspicion by all right
thinking Zimbabweans!
The Assembly
of Women urges Zanu PF to stop committing crimes against humanity
by seeking to blackmail MDC Youths with unwarranted arrests and
harassment. Impunity is rife with Zanu PF Chipangano manipulating
youths by recruiting them to perpetrate violence at the expense
of their access to education, employment and upliftment. They are
busy brainwashing them to become a replica of a violent, dictatorial,
criminal and corrupt future leadership.
The police officer
who was sadly
murdered by unknown revellers at a night club should not be
used as an excuse to hold the MDC youth leadership at ransom. The
assembly of women shall continue with its unwavering support for
our children, our partners in the struggle for equality, justice
and a new democratic Zimbabwe.
