MP donates wheelchairs
Movement
for Democratic Change (MDC)
July 15, 2011
Hon Paurina Gwanyanya-Mpariwa, the MDC MP for Mufakose today donated
10 wheelchairs to some of the disabled people in her constituency.
Hon Mpariwa said challenges faced by one member of her constituency
are everyone's challenges. She said being disabled does not
mean one is dying just as being ill does not mean death.
"Everyone is important
to the other, whether they are disabled or not. We can not prescribe
to God how we want our lives to be, anyone of us need assistance
one way or the other. Let us unite, take care of one another and
know that there is a way out of every situation," she said.
She congratulated those
who managed to get wheelchairs and said she will strive to get any
form of assistance for others.
"Congratulations
to you. There are others failed to get wheelchairs today, please
do not loose heart, we are here for you. Your needs are our concern
as your children in this community. We want to bring notable, real
change into everyone's homes. We are one family in Mufakose,"
she said.
The Executive Director
for National Association of Societies for the Care of the Handicapped,
NASCOH, Mr Farai Mukuta sourced the wheel chairs on behalf of Hon
Mpariwa to assist the elderly and the disabled members of Mufakose.
One elderly woman, overcome
with excitement, cried and thanked the MP for remembering her and
others her predicament. "MP, I do not know you. When you were
elected, I was already paralysed. I have no children, I have no
husband, but you have remembered me," cried Ms Eunice Brown
(71).
Among the beneficiaries
was an 83 year old man.
