Ailing Gokwe Kabuyuni MP arrested again

Ailing Gokwe Kabuyuni MP, Hon. Costin Muguti was today re-arrested outside Kwekwe Prison on false charges of political violence. Hon. Muguti had been earlier on granted a US$50 bail by a Kwekwe magistrate on allegations of threatening Chief Samuel Samambwa of Zhombe. Another MP, Hon. Rodgers Tazviona is facing similar charges and was granted a US$100 bail by the High Court on Monday.

Hon. Muguti was picked up by plain clothes police officers who said they were taking him to Kadoma Central Police Station. He is not in good health and is in need of urgent medical treatment, which he was denied while in remand prison.

Meanwhile, Hon. Tazviona appeared for his routine remand and was further remanded to 20 April.

In Masvingo, Betty Zimoto, the MDC Youth Assembly vice chairperson for Masvingo province appeared before a Masvingo Magistrate Mudzongachiso facing phony charges of pointing a firearm at Zanu PF supporters at Zano Business Centre last year. She was remanded out of custody to 3 May on a US$50 bail.
