MP Mudavanhu acquitted
Movement for Democratic Change
May 11, 2010

Zaka North MP, Hon. Earnest Mudavanhu, who was last year jailed for two years by a Harare magistrate on trumped-up charges of abusing the government subsidised farming inputs, has been acquitted. High Court judge, Justice Yunus Omerjee today set aside both the conviction and sentence saying the magistrate had misdirected herself.

Hon. Mudavanhu was last year convicted on trumped-up charges of abusing subsidised farming inputs distributed under the Government's Farm Mechanisation Programme by Harare magistrate, Olivia Mariga. Six other MDC MPs have been acquitted of the same charges which were part of a well orchestrated Zanu PF plot to convict MDC MPs, officials and members in a desperate attempt to decimate the party.

The people's project remains firmly on course and all elected MDC officials are now concentrating on delivering real change to the people.
