MDC says bravo to a united student's leadership
Movement for Democratic Change
May 07, 2010

The MDC congratulates the two Zimbabwe National Students Union (ZINASU) factions for resolving their differences amicably and forming one united students' union. We salute this positive move as it will build a stronger national students' body that will see positive change in the fight for academic and democratic freedoms. The MDC acknowledges and salutes the concerted effort by the students to prioritize the interests of students ahead of petty, personal interests.

As a party of excellence, the MDC urges the students' union to continue working in harmony and to strive to fight for conducive learning conditions that will improve the quality of the products from our tertiary institutions. Students are the nation's future and their rights and interests can only be championed by a united leadership. At the epicenter of the formation of the MDC in 1999 was a united and visionary students' leadership that joined forces with other democrats to form a mass-based political movement that would fight for real change in Zimbabwe. We laud the current crop of the students' leadership in realising that there is no value in ruinous divisions; that bickering and petty squabbling are not in the interest of the ordinary student who is worried about the high fees and the declining learning conditions in our colleges.

The MDC shall continue to work with a united students' movement which has always been a key ally in the national and generational struggle to deliver real change to the people of Zimbabwe.
