MP Madzore detained on spurious charges
Movement
for Democratic Change
May 04, 2010
MDC Harare province Organising
Secretary and Glen South MP, Hon. Paul Madzore, was today detained
for more than two hours at Harare Central police station on allegations
that he assaulted two police officers in May of 2007.
Hon. Madzore was arrested
for allegedly not attending court on May 27 2007 yet on the said
date; he was in remand at Harare Remand Prison on allegations of
burning police stations.
He was later acquitted
on this charge.
"We had to go to
the Harare Magistrates' court's administration to verify that the
case had been thrown away as I was in prison as from the 28 April
2007 to June," Hon Madzore said.
The MDC views this as
a sustained and choreographed attack on the MDC leadership and membership
and further condemns this barbaric act of harassment and intimidation
of its rank and file.
