  • MDC National Council to meet on Sunday
    Movement for Democratic Change (MDC)
    May 14, 2009

The MDC national council will meet in Masvingo on Sunday, 17 May 2009, to deliberate and review the party's role in the inclusive government and the challenges the same government continues to face since its formation in February.

The MDC national council, the party's supreme decision-making body, will discuss among other issues, the sticking points that remain unresolved since the formation of the new government and chart the best way forward.

The MDC had earlier given the principals until last Monday to resolve outstanding issues but had been briefed that a statement on the matter would be issued this week.

The party has given time to the principals to resolve the matter this week and the national council will take a position guided by the nature of the progress on these crucial issues.

The outstanding issues that have threatened the life and health of the inclusive government include the issue of permanent secretaries and ambassadors, provincial governors, the illegal appointment of Reserve Bank governor Gideon Gono and Attorney-General Johannes Tomana and the swearing-in of Hon Roy Bennett as the deputy minister of Agriculture.
