Remain
peaceful
Dumiso Dabengwa, Kusile-Mavambo-Dawn
June 16, 2008
The first Kusile-Mavambo-Dawn
workshop involving the provinces of Matebeleland North and South,
Bulawayo, and Midlands was held in Bulawayo from 13 to 15 June in
preparation for the national workshop to be held later this year.
Two hundred participants from the four provinces attended and issued
the following statement:
"We would like
to thank our noble supporters and all other Zimbabweans for their
peaceful conduct during the March elections. We are deeply concerned
with the unprecedented and deplorable political violence that has
gripped the nation as we approach the presidential run-off and call
on all Zimbabweans to observe the law. Furthermore, we remind them
that there is no one worth dying for and killing for on this earth
and that it is government responsibility to ensure that there is
peace and tranquility in the country.
As we pursue our quest
for leadership change in the country, and if our bid for a Government
of National Unity fails, we urge our supporters to vote for Morgan
Tsvangirai for president during the run-off and also implore whoever
is going to win subordinate himself to the desired political, economic
and social interests of the people of Zimbabwe.
We are mindful of the
concerns raised by our supporters after the March election, and
their request that our project consolidates its position in the
country's politics and transforms itself into a vibrant, democratic
and people driven political organization.
We once again urge all
Zimbabweans to be peaceful during the campaign period and beyond
the June 27, 2008 run-off.
Let us get Zimbabwe working
again
