Statement by ZPDP Interim Youth Secretary
Stephen Matenga, Zimbabwe People's Democratic Party (ZPDP)
December 06, 2007

Ladies and gentlemen, Zimbabwe's youth rank among the most talented, innovative and promising on the African continent. Yet the youth of our country have been reduced to objects at the disposal of politicians to abuse at will. We are being used for political ends with nothing to help us Secure our Future and Heritage.

Some of us want to help end that culture of abusing and manipulation of the youth of our nation for the selfish benefit of politicians. This is why we have joined hands with the ZPDP, the only party in the history of Zimbabwe to come up with a fully-fledged blue print to emancipate the Youth of our country.

The ZPDP has a comprehensive policy programme for youth development and advancement. At the centre of that policy is the recognition that the youth are the future of every nation. By abusing the youth, politicians are actually threatening the future dynamics of our country. What future will our country have if our youth are not well educated and equipped to take over the running of the country's economy and government?

The Youth Forum of the ZPDP will provide a platform for all the youth of Zimbabwe to play a role in the development of our country, ZImbabwe. We are not a wing of the party, but we are an integral element of the party's structural organisation and we can feel confident about partaking in the activities of the party as equal partners.

My appeal to all self-respecting youths out there, both boys and girls, and young men and women is to say, let's come and join hands with a party that genuinely cares for your aspirations and prospects.

Join the ZPDP and get the dignity and respect you all deserve.

We are stronger together.

Thank you.
