Justice denied

Slowly, but
surely, judged form what people are saying, a general feeling that
the all-inclusive government of President Robert Mugabe and Prime
Minister Morgan Richard Tsvangirai is a secret pact against the
true wishes of the people of Zimbabwe. And is seen to be blocking
any real attempts to uncover the true state of affairs of our country,
hiding the truth about what really happened to cause our economy
to grind to a halt against good advice and common sense.
After a disaster of this
magnitude and the formation of the all-inclusive government, normal
practice would have been to institute a general enquiry to the cause
of the collapse of our economy and identify those liable so that
justice would be allowed to take its course, unless of course criminals
in our midst, wield immense power over well meaning of society.
And the judiciary would not have escaped this enquiry, so that their
contribution to the cause of this calamity is made public, bad apples
in their ranks separated from the good ones.
Zimbabweans
are entitled to the true state of affairs of their country and if
indeed there is a 'secret pact-, Mugabe and Tsvangirai,
against the people, then that arrangement is diabolic.
A lot has happened that
can not be swept under the carpet. It must not be lost to Tsvangirai
that people associate the collapse of the economy with the regime
of President Mugabe. What other failure is there for Mugabe to talk
about?
In his short brief as
Prime Minister, Morgan Richard Tsvangirai has praised President
Mugabe even to the extent of insinuating that his participation
in the democratic struggle was ill advised. He has been defeated,
emasculated and can not stand against Mugabe in the next election,
even if he wanted to. He has lost all resolve, to him Mugabe is
a messiah and it-s not so clear he knows who he represents
in this inclusive arrangement, at this very moment. "Free
the press", has been one of his promises, but all that is
talk show. Government must guarantee through a people driven constitution
not Kariba document, or anything else freedom of expression.
The biggest dilemma,
facing Zimbabweans, as it were, is that they do not know what is
wrong, as such will pray to God to make even the most mediocre of
our preferred solutions work. But why pray to God to sanction what
we know to be not only wrong, but unjust and evil.
ZANU-PF, MDC-T and MDC-M-s
performances in the last general elections do not grant the three
parties the mandate to form a government, even if it is inclusive.
The experiment of an all inclusive administration was begun in Kenya
where increasing reports of its unlimited success are fast emerging.
And in our case this idea should have been tested though a referendum
instead of being shoved down through people-s throats, as
is the case.
Our experiment malfunctioned
when the three parties finalized 'their- cabinet posts
separately, when the ideal would have been for the Prime Minister
to chose the cabinet from a comprehensive pool forwarded from all
the parties, to give it unity of purpose. This would have reduced
the obvious cracks this scenario has presented, where the three
-in- one cabinet has members taking orders from different super
numerals.
Fortunately,
the angry voices raised against this glaring betrayal are becoming
louder and need to be listened to. Efforts by such organizations
as WOZA
to gain freedom for themselves and their children must be complemented,
the energy and zeal displayed, directed towards what is surely achievable.
As a country, we have wasted so many opportunities, so much in resources
and continue to put our trust on leaders who do not have our mandate,
or those that have lost confidence in them selves and their ability
to lead. Let us open our eyes and see what it is that we want to
see, time to rise and demand justice is now. For it is indeed justice
more than anything else the country lacks and Mugabe thinks the
country needs 100% empowerment, while Tsvangirai would have been
more than happy to secure democracy and the rule of law for his
fellow countrymen, but without justice, democracy and good governance,
remains a pipe dream. Justice is the foundation upon which we must
build. With justice, we can not be held at ransom by a handful of
criminals in our citizenry.
In fact there
will be no solution for as long as criminals ride roughshod over
the well meaning of society, and are not rounded, sent to the filthiest
of our jails. Certainly no need to spruce them up yet, let us has
our priorities in order. And before we lose direction and the meaning
of our struggle, it is not any one person, certainly not about Tsvangirai,
but the struggling masses, of Zimbabweans, it is their history,
their legacy. It is their heritage and that of their offspring.
