Time to boot Mugabe out
Clever Bere, ZINASU
March 18, 2008

I have said it before, and I will repeat, the time has come to boot Mugabe and Zanu PFout of office, and that time is now! I am convinced that we are in the last phase of the struggle to liberate our beloved country from the brutal dictatorship of 'former' president Robert Mugabe. I am equally convinced Morgan Tsvangirai is the next president of Zimbabwe, either through the March 29 process or otherwise.

Why I say Mugabe is going? The reasons are too many, I will not state all, but will single out a few outstanding ones. Any leader who deliberately or coincidentally reduces the status of his people to squalor and deprivation, visibly the case with Zimbabwe, has no right to and will not remain in office. Remember this man is the chief architect of the brutal Matabeleland and Midlands atrocities which resulted in more than 20 000 innocent people losing lives. As if this was not enough, the geriatric dictator sanctioned operation Murambatsvina, again lives were lost. Indeed payback time has come.

Let me also make a public secret public. The Zimbabwe National Students Union is fully and strongly behind President Morgan Tsvangirai and the Movement for Democratic Change in the March 29 elections. Certain sections of society have been made to believe that a messiah has been presented to the people of Zimbabwe in the form of Dr Simba Makoni. Zimbabweans need to remember that ours is not a personality struggle, rather it is a principled struggle against a system of Governance which is rot, and that includes Makoni. As if that was not enough Dr Makoni went on to say 'there are no human rights abuses in Zimbabwe' when thousands of opposition or perceived opposition supporters, activists and sympathizers have been butchered.

I t will be very difficult to dislodge this fascist minority rogue regime of Mugabe from the throne but I am convinced this seemingly insurmountable task is achievable. Students and youths must play an important and central role in this process. The future is ours, let us shape it.

I am convinced Mugabe is going.

Change is inevitable.Victory is certain.
