Reckless monetary policy caused from poor governance in Zimbabwe and Africa
Andrew M Manyevere
January 07, 2008

Social introduction
In economics they call forgery by a government reckless monetary policy. Clearly Zimbabwe government comes into this category. Poor governance is the cause to this phenomenon. Simply in its inability to manage free economy the government prints more money in the hope to give it better value which harvests negative results. Goods appear to gain value when money looses value. But when money looses value below value it creates shortages and black market since no one wants to continue loosing goods for valueless money.

Economic impact on the ordinary of the land
Zimbabwe has seen hoarding of goods done by none other than those in power or related to those in power. Ordinary people have kissed goodbye to doing proper business or else one works to pay private homage to Zanu-pf sycophants who make it impossible for business to be done properly. This is corruption.

It-s very easy to create corruption but very hard to eliminate it. The hard thing in elimination of corruption is that of loosing everything through litigation as law takes its course for fairness and justice. It-s not considered evil to take from the silent masses, or to punish them for taking right decisions during electoral processes. It-s harmful when the corrupt gurus are going through the cleansing processes of making the nations normal in governance of politics and economic balance. It-s harmful to pursue national interest because that empowers the ordinary people and reduces chances of wild money making by those few lawless through abusing of political power.

The Kenyan situation comes handy to illustrate that even if people speak through electorate the leadership who has tested power and enjoy the thriving of corrupt tendencies for self aggrandizement, resist change at any cost. It makes Zimbabwe -s Robert Mugabe that easy to see and understand from those interested in peace mediation but not to those with invested interest looking at the wastage of investments by taking decisions for the people of Africa.

Money image and its relentless pursuit breeds vanity
The good book the bible has referred to money as the root cause of all evil. We live under the testimony that money, love of it, builds to love for power to control and subsequently abuse. Since people may make choices that endanger the wealthy of the political powerful and therefore cause the have-nots to take over the government, it causes the political powerful immorally defend their selfishness.

Is it money Mugabe could be looking for while he remains in power? Is it money Kibaki could be looking for when he forces his way to remain in power? One cannot argue that it-s for security reason either, but for AVARICE and VANITY.

Money vision leads to abuse of any power
When Museveni of Uganda arrested and detained the opposition leader just prior to election thereby denying him that right to present his case to the electorate, he also stole the elections from Ugandan people. Mr Mugabe uses his presidents to benefit him over other political parties, so does Mr Kibaki, so does Mr Museveni, so does Mr Obasanjo; it-s all political forgery under the world watch, without recourse for justice anywhere. What inspiration does the young generation have other than turn to violence and uproot these greedy and selfish leadership that justify themselves to remain in power at human life costs. They use violence and they will beget violence.

Money is what some big powers also look for when they do acts of "good deeds." That way politics becomes very complicated involving personal interests at the expense of losing national interests. It is true that the war in Iraq has almost cost American national sense of national interest as many do not see the national interest comparatives in its genesis. The same can be said when Robert Mugabe single handedly chose to plug our nation in the war of Congo contrary to national interest, a prize we have lived to pay as our economy is bled and money has lost value.

In Zimbabwe Mr Mugabe lost elections in 2002 June when presidential elections were done with the MDC participating. Five years later the courts of Zimbabwe ruled endorsing the stealing of elections. But that was five years later. Mean while Morgan Tsvangirai had been accused of treason, his party almost made bankrupt through fighting for bell outs for her membership continual imprisoned for no offences but for the leisure of the militia who are violence happy. Money has been used to pay this militia. When the country has no fiscal capacity Mr Mugabe forces the central Bank to create more paper money and buy political support. Political support has been bought of the military top brass and police and Central intelligence.

Inevitably people like Raila Odinga and many others disadvantaged from the rule of the nationalists and military juntas in Africa, have been watching nursing solution of political democracy in their hearts. But low and behold the nationalists stage a came back so nakedly corrupt that it does not need a recount on votes, but strong mediation to make tyrants see and accept PEOPLE POWER OF VOTE IN AFRICA - God help Africa .

Africa should mediate on African matters or UN
Great questioning has to be put in the interest of America, on her frontline role in mediation. Why does not the USA be supportive or employ the agencies of the United Nations? It is pleasing though to know that despite its- prejudice on matters of blame on African leadership this time the African Union (AU) has agreed to send its Chairman President John Agyekum Kufuor to mediate. Mr Kufuor himself is a student of political change, having caused Ghana turn around from Lt Jerry Rawlings- clutches in harmony to democracy.

We need however to underline that the issue of use of money to blackmail leadership and compromise African ascent to democracy should stop and proper and forthright talks be applied where ordinary people cry for fairness and justice. The case of Kenya stands tall on the agenda today. For ten years and actively so, the case of Zimbabwe has stood tall equally and was relegated to Sub regional Committees of SADC full of leadership of Kibaki-s caliber who too behave like Mr Mugabe.

One hopes that after the Kenyan issue is resolved the next one will be for AU to examine justice and fairness in Zimbabwe.

The electoral commission of Zimbabwe meanwhile prays for long life for Mr Mugabe as can be seen in the piece of document news on its latest position on defending Mr Mugabe rigging under pretext of law. As we all know the Zimbabwe law has lost its cause by being politicized and corrupted, hence the need for independent jurors in the whole issue of elections in Zimbabwe to be free and fair. Electoral Commissioners are paid heavily to sway events and numbers in favour of Mr Mugabe-s party.

Issues ugly under reckless monetary policy
New political strategies are done without consideration of people at all.

  1. As an example the new delimitations done in Zimbabwe has increased chances of Mr Mugabe to win by allotting such constituencies in the rural areas where people have no access to the news/information and therefore live in fear of reprisals by Zanu-pf green bomber/militia.
  2. The Electorate Commissioners are appointed by Mr Mugabe and owe allegiance to Mr Mugabe, similar to what Kibaki just days before elections did when he appointed new judges in courts. The strategy of riggers of people power is the same everywhere, except that the world chooses when to act and when not to.Considering that its- just early days in Kenya, if this is to prolong, then definitely the case of reckless monetary policy will come in and Kenya will begin rolling down like many Africa countries are doing.
  3. To control power the tyrants deny media for opposition and this is still the case in Zimbabwe despite that we are only two months away from the election dates.
  4. The voter-s role we suspect even contain the names of some of us abroad which names will strategically be used to out vote the contenting political parties by Zanu-pf gurus.
  5. John Chiweshe the commissioner as can be seen in the caption below is above politics and can over rule petition from political parties seeking smoothing the way for an election. Obviously he is now holier than Mr Mugabe his mentor and master. This commission is political.
  6. Opposition parties cannot hold rally-s at all despite what reports allude to. There are many bottle necks and subsequently rally does not achieve its objective of educating the voters. Too much interference is gotten from Zanu-pf youth league who are in custom of violently beating up supporters of other parties to stop them from turning up.
  7. It is amazing that even the world and countries like America who have their hand in every pie are silent when it comes to creating a platform when Zimbabweans abroad can express themselves by voting only this time since so many have been send out by the regime cruel political policies.

Conclusion
The Developed nations have to keep their true vigil and be involved in keeping tenets of democracy clean all rounds. African Union with the president of Ghana in place is ready to be used to meddle in her affairs for the good of ordinary citizens to bring some semblance of true democracy. History is definitely speaking laud in favor of transparency and democracy. At what ever expense the people of Zimbabwe shall be victorious soon through none violent methods of negotiation and asking for free and fair elections. The world need to help, by so doing it helps facilitate a concept of global village.
