Voluntary Media Council of Zimbabwe

Parties Complaint Status
Mr. Alistair MacNeilage versus TechZim Technology Zimbabwe Mr Alistair McNeilage filed a complaint with the Media Complaints Committee against Techzim Technology Zimbabwe over a story published on their website (www.techzim.co.zw) of 22 August 2012 headlined, "Two Econet Facebook Pages. The more popular one is fake".
Mr MacNeilage claims that the article made false allegations about his company Communication Twenty Four Seven. He further states that the contents of the article about his company were totally untrue and baseless. Mr. MacNeilage wants TechZim Technology Zimbabwe to retract the article in question.
Resolved and Awaiting Finalisation

The matter was adjudicated on and a decision taken and is now awaiting finalisation.

The VMCZ Media Complaints Committee convened a hearing on Thursday 1 November 2012. After both parties had made representations on the matter the Media Complaints Committee with concurrence from both parties ruled that Techzim Technology Zimbabwe should accord Mr McNeilage and Communication Twenty Four Seven a right of reply and a news article with Mr McNeilage's response should be published on their website by Friday 09, November 2012.
