Editor remanded

Bright Chibvuri, the editor of the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) publication, The Worker, who was arrested in Plumtree on 3 March 2007 on allegations of practicing journalism without accreditation was on 27 March 2007 further remanded out of custody to 26 April 2007.

Chibvuri spent two nights in police custody following his arrest on allegations of practicing journalism without accreditation under the repressive Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

He was only released on 5 March 2007 when he appeared before a Plumtree magistrate on charges of contravening Section 83 of AIPPA which penalises the practice of journalism without accreditation.
