Leo Mugabe,
the chairman of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee, said
the BAZ would soon be summoned to appear before their committee
to explain why it has not invited applications for community
radio stations three years after the enabling legislation
came into force and also on the need to open the airwaves.

to appear before the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on
Transport and Communications.
Leo Mugabe
chairman of the committee said his team intends to probe Moyo
on the operations of Zimbabwe Broadcasting Holdings and the
Media and Information Commission during his tenure as Minister
of Information.

labour panel to determine the suspension of Mandaza.

Pikirayi
Deketeke, BAZ chairman says the regulatory body is evaluating
the country’s licensing and content regulations to establish
whether there are restrictions that inhibit the entry of new
players into the broadcasting sector.

Deketeke,
said the Authority would "if necessary" forward
its recommendations to the Ministry of Information and Publicity,
and would thereafter, be in a position to invite fresh applications
for broadcasting licenses.

Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) leaders, Lovemore Matombo
and Wellington Chibebe and Last Taribuka, a photographer with
the ZCTU’s mouthpiece, The Worker.

Matombo
the ZCTU president and secretary-general Wellington Chibebe,
were arrested following demonstrations in Harare against the
ever-rising cost of living.
Taribuka
was arrested while covering the demonstrations.

ZCTU leaders and Taribuka, arrested together with about 100
other demonstrators were later released from Harare Central
Police Station.

|
An independent
labour tribunal set up to probe Mandaza’s ouster from ZMNG
fails to proceed with the hearings after parties to the dispute
failed to agree on the need for independent arbitration.

is arguing that his suspension is illegal, unprocedural and
highly irregular.

TeleAccess
|
The Postal
and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ),
cancelled TeleAccess’ licence to provide fixed public telecommunications
services in terms of Section 43 of the Postal and Telecommunications
Act.
POTRAZ
said the licence had been cancelled after TeleAccess failed
to provide the service by 1 May 2003 in terms of the licensing
conditions.
