Dr Ibbo Mandaza the suspended chief executive officer of the Zimbabwe Mirror Newspapers Group bounced back as the publishing group’s boss after the High Court ruled that his suspension was null and void.

However, Mandaza’s joy was short-lived as the ZMNG board issued him with yet another fresh letter of suspension hard on the heels of Justice Bharat Patel’s ruling on 6 December 2005.

Justice Patel nullified the earlier suspension saying it was defective as it did not specify the grounds for Mandaza suspension.

The ZMNG, however, proceeded to issue him with a fresh suspension letter specifying the grounds for the suspension which among other issues include three counts of alleged fraud and misconduct.

In his order, Justice Patel said: "Respondents and all their agents and directors as the case may be, be and are hereby interdicted, prohibited and restrained from holding or continuing any disciplinary proceedings with respect to applicant’s unlawful suspension."

Joseph Mandizha, the lawyer representing Mandaza, said they would be going back to court for redress in light of the latest developments.
