MISA-Zimbabwe National Governing Council Elections
MISA-Zimbabwe

MISA-Zimbabwe held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Bronte Hotel on 31 July. The meeting was attended by 143 members. Among matters dealt with was the election of new National Governing Council members (NGC). Below are the names of those elected into the NGC.

Chairperson: Thomas Deve:
Thomas is a journalist by profession and previously worked for SAPES Trust, the Zimbabwe Mirror and The Daily News in various capacities. Presently he is employed by MWENGO. Thomas is the outgoing treasurer of MISA-Zimbabwe.

Vice Chairperson: Loughty Dube:
Loughty is a journalist by profession and the Bureau Chief of the Zimbabwe Independent in Bulawayo.

Treasurer: Elijah Chiwota:
Elijah is a media person and once worked for Read On Magazine. He also worked for Popular Education Collective as Director and is now into media and communications consultancy.

Committee Member: Godfrey Marawanyika:
Godfrey is a journalist by profession and works for the Zimbabwe Independent as a business reporter.

Committee member: Kholiwe Nyoni:
Kholiwe is a journalist by profession and currently works for Radio Dialogue in Bulawayo as Marketing and Advocacy Officer.

Committee Member: Millie Phiri:
Millie is a journalist by profession and worked for a number of media houses in Zimbabwe including The Sunday Mail, The Financial Gazette and ZIANA were she rose to become acting Editor in Chief. She is a media and public relations consultant.

Committee member: Abigail Gamanya:
Abigail is a communications and public relations specialist working with a local NGO. She is a former Director of the Federation of African Media Women (FAMWZ).

At the AGM members were also presented with the audited financial statement for adoption. The new NGC will be in office for two years.
