calls for applications for broadcasting license

The Broadcasting
Authority of Zimbabwe (BAZ) has invited applications for a license
for the operation of a second national free to air radio and television
broadcasting license.
The call was
made in a government gazette and will close on 26 March 2004. Prospective
broadcasters are obliged to pay an application fee of $10 million
Zimbabwe dollars (approximately 13 000US dollars) while the basic
license fee is US$1 million or the equivalent in Zimbabwe dollars.
Successful applicants will be expected to operate an Ultra High
Frequency (UHF) television transmission network capable of national
coverage for a period of 20 years.
Prospective
applicants are expected to provide a clear roll out plan that includes
the target completion dates.
