Film producer's home raided and equipment confiscated
Media Institute of Southern Africa - Zimbabwe Chapter (MISA-Zimbabwe)
June 07, 2003

Eight men wearing police uniforms and driving four police cars raided the home of Edwina Spicer a film and documentary producer at midnight on 6 June. They took away video cameras, recording equipment, fax machine and $50 000 dollars.

The men beat the gardener, maid and guards at the Spicer's home. The gardener had to be treated of a dislocated bone at the Avenues Clinic. The men who said they were police officers said they were looking for guns. Mrs Spicer is away on holiday in England. This is not the first time that her home has been raided. She has also been arrested on numerous occasions in the course of duty. Efforts to get a comment from the police were fruitless as the Harare province spokesperson for the police was said to be away.
