Service delivery update
Combined Harare Residents Association (CHRA)
May 31, 2013

Water and sewer reticulation services continue to be a challenge in Harare as many high density areas are still experiencing perennial sewer pipe bursts while water cuts are almost on a daily basis. The same goes for electricity supply with suburbs like Mbare Matapi, Matererini and Chishawasha flats having gone without supplies for the past week following a disconnection spree by ZESA. The table below gives a summary update of the service delivery situation that obtained in some areas during the past week.

Mabvuku Water is available in some areas. The areas include Hunyani and John Tapedza street and the new stands (Kugarika Kushinga). Load shedding is experienced during peak hours from 5am-11am & 4pm-10pm. On Monday last week there was no electricity for the whole day. Raw sewer has been flowing into the New Stands opposite Lafarge Cement but the COH has failed to fix the problem. Illegal dumpsites have cropped up at Kamunhu shopping centre due to the failure by COH o collect refuse for the past one month. No cases have been reported to CHRA so far.

Nothing has been reported. Refuse is collected once a week on Sunday, but residents wanted at least twice a week since dumpsites are still developing at corner Mbirimi and Daniel roads, near Stodart Hall.
