BPRA weekend activity report: 27-28 April 2013
Bulawayo Progressive
Residents Association (BPRA)
April 26, 2013
Bulawayo Progressive
Residents Association (BPRA) will be holding four consultative meetings
this weekend (27 & 28 April 2013) as part of its quest to promote
an active citizenry and accountability in the operations of service
providers and holders of public office. The meetings, to be held
in Nkulumane (Ward 20), Mpopoma (Ward 9), Pumula (Ward 19) and Entumbane
(Ward 10) will bring various stakeholders including ward councillors
and Child Protection Committee members to account to residents for
their operations. In Mpopoma the Member of Parliament, Samuel Sandla
Khumalo is expected to account to residents on how he used the Constituency
Development Fund (CDF) to develop Mpopoma-Pelandaba constituency.
Contentious
issues that the councillors of the respective wards are expected
to address include the state of Bulawayo’s roads, the city’s
water situation vis-a-vis new developments such as the water summit
held recently at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) and
concerns with the city’s water billing system which residents
say is faulty.
