Service delivery update - Week of 21 September 2012
Combined Harare Residents Association (CHRA)
September 21, 2012

Refuse collection has not been regular in many parts of Harare hence residents continue to dump refuse at street corners. At a pre-budget consultative meeting in Mabvuku last week, City Council revealed that it had no money to repair leaking pipes that were causing shortages of water in Mabvuku. In Mbare the Council has not been able to provide bins for residents hence residents resorted to putting their refuse in tins and sacs which council workers are refusing to collect. For the last three days at almost all western suburbs have been without water and this has raised fears of another typhoid outbreak. Water leakages can be witnessed in most areas and this worries residents considering that water is now a scarce commodity.
