Service delivery update
Combined Harare Residents Association (CHRA)

At a pre-budget consultative meeting in Rugare last week, waste management promised to add more refuse trucks to ease the accumulating garbage in Harare's suburbs. A new borehole has been set up in Dzivarasekwa 2 and is expected to improve the accessibility of water since the suburb has gone for one month without water. Most suburbs in Harare are experiencing water shortages most due to old water pipes which are leaking. Below is a service delivery update of a few selected areas in Harare:

  Water Electricity Refuse Collection Sewer Outbursts Diarrheal Diseases
Mufakose Water is available. Load shedding for 14hrs a day. Refuse has not been collected for two weeks None reported. None reported.
Dzivarasekwa Water is available after 11pm. Load shedding for 10hrs a day. Refuse is being collected for one week Scattered cases. None reported.
Rugare Water is available but has low pressure. Electricity is available. Refuse has not been collected for the past one month. Are quickly attended to by Council. None reported.
Newlands No water supplies for the past two weeks. Load shedding for 4hrs a day. Refuse is being collected. None reported. None reported.
Ruwa Water is available for four times a week Load shedding for 8hrs a day. Refuse is being collected. None reported. None reported.
Westlea Water is available. Load shedding for 10hrs a day. Refuse is being collected. None reported. None reported.
Borrowdale Water is available. Load shedding for 5hrs a day. Refuse is being collected. None reported. None reported.
Highfields Water available in small quantities because of leaking pipes. No electricity in Canaan for the past two weeks. Refuse is not being collected for two months now. Scattered cases. None reported.
