Service delivery update: Week of 7 July 2012
Combined Harare
Residents Association (CHRA)
July 12, 2012
For the past
few months, Mabvuku residents in New Stands and those who reside
in Hunyani Street and areas around Matongo have been experiencing
extreme water shortages with some of the areas going for extended
periods of time without supplies. However, the situation is set
to change as Lafarge in Mabvuku has already put all logistics in
place to provide Mabvuku residents with borehole water particularly
those areas which are mostly affected.
Mbare Msika toilets have been a health hazard of
late with the City of Harare not being able to provide adequate
cleaning requirements for public toilets in Mbare and the city centre.
This has prompted the association to launch a program which is aimed
at cleaning most of the public toilets in Harare.
The much awaited
dualisation of Mutare road is already in progress and will go a
long way in improving congestion and reducing the occurrence of
accidents. The dangerous part of the road nicknamed "11 months"
has seen many people losing their lives in the past.
The health situation
in Harare has greatly improved with Typhoid and Diarrhea cases dropping
week after week.
Below is a summarized service delivery update of a few selected
