Service delivery update: Week of 22 June 2012
Combined Harare Residents Association (CHRA)
June 25, 2012

Since last week, electricity availability had improved in most suburbs in the city with areas like Ruwa, Rugare and Belvedere receiving unlimited supplies. Refuse collection had also improved especially in areas like Highfields which had gone for several months without their refuse being collected. Since the beginning of the month, cases of Typhoid and Diarrhea have decreased in all areas especially in Dzivarasekwa and Kuwadzana which were the most affected. This week, water remains stable in many parts of Harare except in Hunyani Street and areas around Matongo in Mabvuku which have gone for months without water supplies. The Harare City Council has since begun erecting new pipes in the area but the situation is yet to improve. Refuse is yet to be collected in Mabvuku, Belvedere and Rugare and council has not yet made attempts to remove heaps of garbage at most shopping centers like Matongo and at Zarango Stoddard Hall in Mbare.
