Service delivery update: Week of 22 April 2012

Below is a service delivery update for the week commencing April the 22nd to date. Our apologies for the late update we hope you will find this useful.

  Water Electricity Sewer outbreaks Diarrheal diseases Refuse Collection
Mabvuku No water supplies for the past 2 weeks in Hunyani street. Load shedding for 20hrs a day. Sewer bursts at circle cement. Scattered cases. Refuse is being collected.
Mufakose Water is available. Load shedding for 19hrs a day. Scattered cases. None reported. Refuse has not been collected for the past 3 weeks.
Highfields Erratic supplies. Load shedding for 15hrs a day. A sewer burst in 155 street, Lusaka. None reported. Refuse collection is not regular.
Dzivarasekwa Erratic supplies. Electricity is available. Scattered cases. Typhoid is still on the loose. Refuse collection is not regular.
Kuwadzana Water is available. Load shedding for 15hrs a day. None reported. Scattered cases. Refuse is not being collected.
Westlea Water is available. Load shedding for 12hrs a day. None reported. None reported. Refuse is being collected.
Borrowdale Erratic supplies. Load shedding for 8hrs a day. None reported. None reported. Refuse collection is not consistent
Hillside Water is available. Load shedding for 17hrs a day. None reported. None reported. Refuse has been collected.
Kambuzuma Water is available. Load shedding for 15hrs a day. Scattered cases. None reported. Refuse has not been collected for the past 2 months.
New Marlborough Water is available. Load shedding for 17hrs a day. None reported. None reported. Refuse has not been collected for the past 1 month.
Mt Pleasant Water is available. Load shedding for 16hrs a day. None reported. None reported. Refuse collection is not regular.
Eastlea Water is available. Load shedding for 16hrs a day. None reported. None reported. Refuse is being collected.
Glenview Water is available but dirty. Load shedding for 20hrs a day. Scattered cases. Scattered cases. Refuse has not been collected for the past 8 months.
Mainway Meadows Water is available. Load shedding for 15hrs a day. None reported. None reported. Refuse is being collected.
Ruwa Water is available 12hrs a day. Load shedding for 15hrs a day. Scattered cases. None reported. Refuse is being collected.
  • This week many suburbs have been experiencing extreme power outages, at the same time ZESA is still continuing with its programme of disconnecting house holds with arrears.
  • Council is still not able to provide bins for Mabvuku residents.
  • Typhoid is still on the loose, infected people are being treated at Nazareth Infectious Diseases Hospital.

Water from Marimba River in Mufakose which feeds Lake Chivero is black and contaminated with industrial effluent hence posing a serious health hazard for residents using the water for irrigating their community gardens.
