Residents commend Chombo probe
Bulawayo Progressive Residents Association (BPRA)
November 16, 2010

The Bulawayo community has welcomed the portfolio's stance to probe Chombo. The Parliamentary Portfolio Committee for Local Government, Rural and Urban Development has announced that it will conduct a full inquiry on the Minister; in regard to his property acquisition and the circumstances leading to him accruing these assets while in public office. The Minister had attempted to acquit himself from the probe under the guise of being a victim of circumstance. Dr Chombo is alleged to own vast properties inside and outside the country yet thousands of ordinary Zimbabweans are living on the precipice of poverty. Residents received the news of Dr Chombo's probe with great delight and see it as a long overdue step by government to monitor and clampdown on corruption by public officials. Residents have proposed that the minister be relieved of his duties pending the inquiry's findings.
