Residents clamour for transparency and accountability
Bulawayo Progressive Residents Association (BPRA)
October 12, 2010

Bulawayo Progressive Residents Association in collaboration with Transparency International Zimbabwe yesterday (Monday 11 October 2010) held a road show in Luveve (ward 15). The Road show was held to conscientize residents on the importance of transparency and accountability by Public Officials. It was attended by more than 200 residents. During the road show residents won prizes ranging from T-shirts to grocery items. In addition to the road show, the two organisations will be carrying out a training workshop for 80 community leaders in Luveve. The workshop will discuss issues revolving around transparency, accountability and corruption. The workshop begins at 2pm and will be held at Beithall.

BPRA will be staging a demonstration against ZESA in a bid to call for improved service provision and compliance with the Competition and Tariffs Commission's directive. The demonstration will be at the city centre on 27 October 2010. Other civic organisations and members of the public are welcome to take part. Further details will be communicated soon.
