Confusion reigns supreme in COPAC meetings
Bulawayo Progressive
Residents Association (BPRA)
September 24, 2010
Confusion has
been the order of the day as COPAC tries to redo meetings that were
aborted over the weekend in Bulawayo. On Thursday a meeting in ward
22 at Nkulumane Hall was reduced to a circus after political parties
bussed people from other areas. Some suspicious residents who have
attended at least five meetings each, contributing heavily dominated
the meeting at Nkulumane Hall. Things came to a standstill when
a youth in Nkulumane demanded that the meeting be adjourned to give
more time to the residents of Nkulumane who apparently were not
aware of the meeting to come. In the afternoon, a meeting in Emganwini
was cancelled after the headmaster of Emganwini Primary School indicated
that he was not advised by his superiors about the meeting. Surprisingly,
most of the faces who were at Nkulumane Hall in the morning were
also present at Emganwini.
Another meeting
was cancelled today (Friday 24 September 2010) at Cowdray Park .
The meeting that was supposed to be held at the Hlalani Kuhle stands
was cancelled after residents passed complaints saying that the
last aborted meeting was flooded by people from the Nyamandlovu
resettlements.
Bulawayo Progressive
Residents Association is yet to confirm from COPAC on the fate of
these meetings.
